Match Report – Matches with Spectator Issues

Early in the match Northern spectators were loudly disparaging CR's calls. CR stopped match during a Northern throw in and approached both team coaches asking them to help calm the sidelines. Things calmed down for the most part until late in the second half when both spectator sidelines became loud and emotional again. No further action was taken.

I ignored much of the behavior from the sidelines during the game and focused on the unsporting behavior and dissent on the field from the Amarillo Rush players. After the game, when we were walking off the field and had addressed misbehavior in the huddle (directed towards center and AR) after the game, I observed Rush parents walked to the Athletico side and engage the Athletico parents agressively. The field marshals intervened.

Spectators were obnoxious about foul selection. Use of air horns and excessive yelling caused assistance to be called.

Berated Ref for “missed” calls along the sideline where I had no AR.

After game was forfeited one of the parents for Northern (Tall week tanned gentleman, salt and pepper receding hair). Dropped a couple S-bombs. Immediately instructed that there was no profanity on my pitch. Got some push back but stopped it immediately.

Spectator from visitor team harrassed AR2 who was a youth ref to the point of crying. Called to the ref shack Bill came asked rapids coach to have parent leave the field

In the last 30 seconds of the second half, a Atletico spectator screamed "asshole". I finished the game and told the coach from atletico about the incident.

As the game got more intense, parents from both teams were exclaiming about the match. I didn't hear anything in particular that warranted my attention and did not stop the match.

Post match, the CFC coach came over to complain the NMSA parents were arguing with CFC parents across the field. We called for the field marshalls to sort the issue.

An issue occurred with behavior and location of the Guadalajara spectators at 65'. Bill N and other field marshalls dealt with the situation and moved the parents to the correct end of the field.

Both parents where yelling really harsh towards their players.. one kid was crying while playing.

I couldn’t pick out direct people.

After the game a spectator later identified as Sara Soul associated with NMSA Timbers entered the technical area, shoved a phone camera towards the referee, and demanded his name. She harshly advised that this was inappropriate. She advised the referee that her husband is a referee, their kids were allowed to be clobbered by the match referee. Head coach Trevor Riggs was cautioned and shown the yellow card for failure to control his technical area. THIS IS NOTED AS A REFEREE ABUSE VIOLATION COMMITTED BY SPECTATOR SARA SOUL WITH NMSA TIMBERS.

Las Cruces Rapid parent on NE corner of fld 11. R1 approached parent to assess reason for location. Parent stated he was watching games on Fld 11 & 9. R1 stated that was okay, but no coaching or interfering with games. Parent replied, "Fuck you." R1 and center then talked with Rapids coach to have parent leave corner and join parent side. Coach complied and talked with parent. Parent then approached R1 and stated, "You need to learn how to fucking talk to people!" Rapids coach intervened and had parent move to spectator side. No further incidents.

Visiting Coach from the rapids continued to yell at the referee during the game in disagreement of calls that were being made. As The referee I had to call a tighter game due to the numerous amount of fouls that rapids were committing and causing injuries to the Corrales team.

Rapids coach and team manager approached Corrales coach and referee after the game to question calls that were made during the game. rapids team manager got in corrales coach’s face and starting telling corrales team manager “what the f*** are you going to do about it?” Spectators from both teams approached the disagreement and nearly escalated a fight. At that point, both coaches pushed their spectators back to prevent a fight.

Assistant coach continued to display poor behavior and fans followed his lead questioning calls and becoming irate when calls didn’t go their way. Play was ended early with 3 min left to play due to poor display of sportsmanship from assistant coach Mark Rinker. At half teams were addressed about fair play and sportsmanship as well as playing on if no call is made.

Through out the game the spectators were yelling and laughing at all the calls I made against them.
