This was Jack's first-ever match and he did not take in-person course yet, only online. So naturally, he was raw. He is high-energy so he was able to move well along the sidelines. He had to be shown where to stand on a CK.

Comment on offside signaling
When he had a chance to pop flag for offside, he was all over it. He got it right and as a player, he understands offside. His mechanics could use some work, but considering he's had no hands-on training, it wasn't too bad. I'd like to see him hold calls a big longer.

A work in progress. He had to be taught to square his shoulders to the field when making a call and to to stop when signalling. But once told, he was able to grasp it and tried to use it.

Jack was asked to pick up a badge when he was done for the day. Proper uniform requirements were explained to his mom, who said she would make sure he is properly attired in the future.
Comments for the Mentee
Positives: Tremendously fit and quick. Gets up and down the line with ease. That will be a big benefit as he moves to higher levels. Great attitude and willing to learn. Accepts suggestions well and tries to apply.
Needs work: Jack really needs to go through the in-person class. He needs to continue to work on his sideline presence: shoulders square to field. Holding flag in proper hands when moving, stopping when making calls.
All in all, lots of potential, but needs continued guidance and instruction.

Jack picked up what was said to him quickly and he tried to apply it immediately. He has a good attitude and truly wants to learn and that is a bonus. He seemed to enjoy being out there -- he was quite excited after making a correct offside call. His exuberance is wonderful and is quite evident. He is wonderfully fit and quite speedy so he ranges up and down the line with ease. Definitely needs to work on his mechanics. Taking the in-person course will benefit him greatly, as will continued mentoring, of which I highly recommend he receives more. Lots of potential here.
