In general, Joey did well to stay with play and not get too far from contested play or the ball. Though in a few instances, mainly when the ball was deep in the left corner, I did observed opportunities for him to make position adjustments. At halftime of his first game, I suggested he move 5 to 10 yards closer. He acknowledged my suggestion and made adjustments for the remainder of his games.

At kickoffs, I observed Joey standing on the right side of the center circle relative to the direction of attack for the kicking team. I suggested after his first game that he move to the left side of the circle (he was running a standard left diagonal). He made this change in his second game.

Joey did well to call what appeared to be an unfair charging foul in his first game.

Joey made an appropriate and accurately identified advantage call in his first match.

At one point in the second half of his first match, Joey approached the NM Rush’s team area and spoke with the head coach. The Rush coach was visibly and audibly concerned with what she thought was a missed call for off-the-ball contact of her player. By speaking with the coach in this manner it likely helped diffuse the situation.

I suggested to Joey that he not signal in such a way to immediately wave substitutes onto the field during substitution opportunities. And instead simply point upwards to the intersection of the halfway line and touchline, then wait to beckon the subs on once the player(s) have left the field.
