Very good field presence. Very good sprints when needed. Good eye contact with your ARs. Areas to work on: you tend to stay very central in your positioning (within the projection of the center circle). There were instances where the attacker was dribbling near the goalpost on your side. Taking a wider position in these instances would give you a better view during these high intensity moments. Also, think about taking a deeper position when needed. There was an instance in the second half were the play and challenge moved near the corner flag on your side. Consider moving deeper and wider in these instances and announcing your presence so the players know your near and watching play.

Good foul recognition and selection. There was an instance early in the game when the AYSO player through herself around the opponent, fell to the ground while hollering, and was clearly trying to draw the foul call. You correctly identified this as a no-call, thereby solidifying with the teams and everybody watching that you knew what you’re doing. Areas to work on: there was a handball foul that you correctly called that occurred at the top of the penalty area. You properly looked to the AR for assistance in determining if the foul was inside or outside the penalty area but communication was difficult. We talked about ways the AR can communicate the restart to you (run towards the flag if inside, step clearly upfield or downfield of the upper penalty area line, show the “gown” signal if a penalty kick). Consider integrating your preference on this into your pregame.

Good control of the game. You certainly had the respect of the players and coaches. As you continue to move up into more advanced games keep developing your voice with the players and communicating what you’re seeing during the game and challenges.
