It is a distinct disadvantage to come into officiating with only cursory knowledge of soccer. That will be difficult to overcome but it can be done with a lot of hard work. I would recommend timer spend on the sidelines watching experienced officials at work.

Hazel is not a player and, at best, only a casual soccer fan. So she has a lot of ground to make up. She was trying hard to make up for a lack of knowledge about the sport, but is not ready to officiate without a safety net. I asked her to watch more live soccer and to focus on watching the ARs.
