Make sure you are spending more time staying with the second to last defender than watching the game. If you are watching play too much, you get caught out of position when the ball comes back into your half of the field and could miss an offside decision. Use dead ball situations to look back at the line and get lined up again while everything has slowed down.

No need to worry about retrieving the ball for the players when it goes out of bounds near you. This is not your job. Let the players or coaches get the ball back where it needs to be, even if the ball is near you.
Feel free to run more and side step less. The only time as ARs we really need to side step is when there is an imminent offside decision and the attacker is right on the line. We want to be square to the field to be able to make the correct call. It is okay to be in a more comfortable, "normal," position the rest of the time, as long as we are keeping an eye on the field and the offside line.

Kaleb was excellent for one of his first games. His knowledge of the game and understanding of what was going on on the field was fantastic. The only thing he was really lacking was confidence in his ability. He needs time and space to be able come into himself as a referee. Let him be an AR with experienced referees, but no mentors, for a little while to grow into himself and I have no doubt he will grow into a great referee.
