Generally good movement but behind play during breakaways. There was an example of this in the 9' when AYSO scored on a breakaway and your position was near the halfway line. We discussed this at halftime, and you made obvious efforts to improve in this regard during the second half.

You had a particularly good moment in the 24' when the attacker was clearly fouled as they received the ball just inside the build-out-line. You properly recognized that the attacker was offside and sanctioned the offside infraction instead of the foul.

Riley - you did a nice job during this match. As discussed, you are currently using a small pea whistle. You are capable of using and should consider getting a bigger whistle, either pea style or pealess style. A Fox40 is a common referee whistle for this field size and can be purchased locally or on-line for under $10. If you get a pealess whistle, practice blowing it using your tongue to hit tone and volume prior to using it in a match. We also discussed a moment in the 18' when you properly beckoned a coach on the field during an injury stoppage. Recognize this as a critical moment for the referee and move away from the injured player and the coach's path. This will help avoid a potentially unpleasant interaction requiring further management if the coach makes negative comments while near you. I also appreciated that you were early to this match and easily started it on time. This gave us a moment to talk before the game, and I further appreciated your insights on your role as the referee and some examples you offered from the perspective of a player. Thank you for being a referee.
