Cynthia, it was great to meet you and I enjoyed watching you referee. For your very first match you did a great job. You came dressed properly and made a very good first impression as a referee. You looked good like a referee should and you carried yourself very well. I appreciate you asking questions, such as how to signal for a foul throw. This resulted in a good discussion. One highlight of your day was your focus on the 2nd last defender and the offside. Your offside signal was spot on. Nicely done. Your focus on the 2nd last defender was good throughout the day. You also handled the substitutions well. As we discussed at the end of the day, I encourage you to focus on AR movement as you watch soccer on TV. Focus on AR movement from the top of the penalty area to the goal line: watch them follow the ball (active play) all the way to the goal line. Cynthia, you had a good first outing as an AR. It was a pleasure to meet you and I wish you the best. Keep up the good work.

Comments for the Assignor
Cynthia was a joy to meet. She has a great attitude and was interested in all our discussions. I observed her for two matches as AR1. She had a good question about signaling a foul throw. This was the result of a coach complaining about foul throws. The referee, Julio Rojas, did not call any foul throws. This led to a discussion about AR duties and bringing up questions during the pre-game discussion with the referee. Her flag mechanics are not as sharp as others I observed, but they were satisfactory. She hesitates on the corner kick/goal kick decisions a bit, her thought process moving a little slow. She gets it correct, she’s just not sure at first. We also discussed the importance of proper alignment on corner kicks. She showed much improvement by the end of two matches. She did give a proper offside signal in her first match, and you should have seen her excitement. I love seeing these moments. Uniform looked good. For the 3:00 PM match the referee (didn’t get his name) was getting ready to start the match without the ARs. I had to wave at him just before he blew the whistle to remind him he had ARs. What the heck?
