Comments for the Assignor
I observed Paxton for two matches (second match short due to mercy rule). Paxton and Joshua were almost identical in their participation and demonstrated capabilities; so much so that I had difficulty maintaining their identities (sorry if their notes are similar). Joshua Paxton was fully engaged throughout the day. He asked good questions and he took all suggestions very seriously. He was quick to adjust and understood what was being discussed. He has good mechanics, and good elevation with the throw-in signals. Very sharp signals for goal kicks and corner kicks. Quick and accurate decision making on the GK/CK. Very good focus on the offside and made good decisions. Hustled throughout the day, not afraid to run. Good concept of keeping the flag “referee side.” Great participation and great attitude. One of the better new referees I’ve observed and he will do well going forward.
