I observed Liam for only one match; actually, one half and about 10 minutes into the second half due to the mercy rule. Liam had a proper uniform and looked good. In the first half he didn’t have much activity based on the lopsided nature of the match. Based on his inactivity in the first half we decided to not rotate him for the second half so that he would be able to observe more action. Unfortunately, the match ended too early for him to realize the anticipated action. Liam’s major shortcoming was his tendency to watch the game, which meant that he was often a good 15-20 yards away from the offside line. We discussed this at halftime and shortly at the end. Not sure if the message got through. Basic mechanics (throw in and flag in the proper hand) were OK, good management of the substitutions with signals, but no offside signals given and no GK/CK signals given. Needs to be observed more.
