Emmaline was initially unclear on the diagonal/Z method of control, but it was obvious that she was working hard to get it down as throughout her games. She needs to continue to work on bracketing the ball with her ARs, getting deeper and wide positioning and trying to find optimum spacing. Too frequently she was either too close to play or too far away. I think this is something that will improve as she learns to read the game better. She improved significantly on her positioning on restarts, understing that the point of conflict is where she needs to be and not where the ball is being kicked.

I was happy with her foul recognition. She had several difficult calls and did a very nice job of correctly calling them.

Emmaline has apparently gotten experience as a center without ARs. So simply was not keeping them in the loop via eye contact, etc. She has gotten into a bad habit and she needs to work to break that habit and make her ARs work with her.

I would like to see her exhibit more confidence with her signaling and be more authoritative with her whistle. She was using a pea whistle but is going to upgrade, which I think will help considerably.

Comments for the Mentee
Emmaline has a great attitude and her willingness to learn and improve is evident. She understands fouls well. Needs to be more authoritative with her calls -- whistles and signals. A better whistle will help. Positioning improved from Game 1 to Game 2, but still needs more work to get deeper, wider and bracketing ball between ARs. AND, absolutely must break the habit of not including the ARS in the game. Look at ARs every dead ball.

Emmaline has solid instincts and I think her negatives can be corrected with work and she certainly seems like she is willing to expend that effort. Her progress from the first game to the second was encouraging, but she is still failing too often to make consistent eye contact with her ARs. This above all else she needs to fix.
