Ref Base – Video Evaluations

Henri has an opportunity with his positioning. He consistently ran a tight line down the center of the field. This caused him to be in the passing lane multiple times. The first half he had to jump over a ball and second half he was struck with the ball. I encouraged him to pull further out in a lazy S or a figure 8. This will pull him deeper and wider. He also needs to anticipate more. He was mostly reactive with play which caused him to trail far behind on several attacks.

There was a PK in the first half. This was a solid call. His whistle language was strong. He was trailing for behind play. If this was a contentious game, he would have struggled selling the call. He also walked towards the penalty area after the call. There was so sense of urgency. The shot bounced off the football crossbar. Henri did great blowing the whistle quickly and restarting with a goal kick.
The game was friendly and had very low intensity. This presented very few foul calls to review.

Most calls were clear, but the execution of display needs improvement. Henri needs to stop walking while signaling. His body language came across very lackadaisical.

After speaking with Henri it seems that he has the knowledge. I challenged him to do better. It was clear speaking with him that he has the knowledge. I wanted to challenge him SHOW people that he has the knowledge. He wants to move up and I told him that he has to consistently bring a top level perforce, even on slower or lower-level games. I think it would benefit him to have a mentor as an AR to provide feedback and encouragement at Halftime, and review at the end.

The weather was extremely cold, but the crew showed up dressed professionally.

It was nice speaking with you. You seem very knowledgeable, and I look forward to watching another match with you on the center. I feel that you could progress with USSF if you put forth the effort on every game. This is how you will improve, and help you get seen.

An attack was stopped because a trailing defending player had a minor injury. After game was stopped the injured player hooped to his feet and quickly walked it off. The proper restart of a dropped ball was utilized. This allowed the defense time to regroup and defend the attack. Henri and I discussed letting the attack progress while keeping an eye on the defender.
