I get caught being a bit static as the ball moves around me. This particular match was one where the defensive teams cleared the ball up to the attacking team repeatedly all game. Not a bad thing when this is my 4th game of the day after 2 particularly quick transitioning ground games. This match had me anticipating the ball to return into the defending team repeatedly until identified players could clear it with a lengthy kick into space and the attacking team couldn't get there fast enough. I relied heavily on both ARs through their sides and stayed more central, which may be a bit lazy. I could have sunk deeper into the corners without ARs for certain. I will be more conscious of that when energy is low. Maybe still rely on ARs thru their corners.
Decision Making/Rules Application: Comments
Very easy going match until the last 10-minutes when the Rapids coach pulled his keeper into the fray and the defending team was very physical to stop the attacks. I kept a tight eye on the physicality of both teams and kept in contact with my AR. I counted 2 physical fouls that i could have called but on the whole I let the game safely play.
Signaling Coments
Directional calls, off-side and goal kicks all seemed appropriate. Responded to player questions politely.
Interaction with Team Comments
With several injury stoppages, i was sure to communicate with the coaches during each. Made sure to communicate with coaching staff post game regarding any of the head injury stoppages. 1 in particular was of minor concern and the player was removed for evaluation and I made sure to follow-up with player and staff post-match. Both coaches were easy to communicate with and there were no problems during or after the match.
