Referee – Video Submissions

CR was very strict but very fair. He and I spoke at half-time and after the game - I told him his application of advantage was one of the best I have seen. There was a potential DOGSO that we discussed after the game. The event can be seen at 27:30 in the video. 14-White has a breakaway against the keeper, keeper comes out to challenge, and knocks our player down preventing the goal.

The discussion went that had the challenge occurred outside the box, it would have resulted in a red card and a direct free kick. But since it was in the box "double-punishment" comes into play and the result was a yellow card and PK. CR and I were in agreement and it was a very good interaction.

On reviewing after video, I would argue that the challenge on the attacker occurred after the ball was past and that there was no attempt to play the ball, but to trip the attacker. My reading of the laws would indicate that this challenge shouldn't be downgraded and the result should have been RC and PK.

This is all purely academic - like I said we all left the field without any problems. But this is a more challenging example of DOGSO in the box.
